Roof Top Sunset

This is a shot of a sunset from my roof top that I captured with my X100. It is a SOOC (straight out of the camera) jpeg that I hardly retouched in Lightroom.

Sunset on a Grazing Field

I will be soon leaving the rural paysage breton for the city. I suppose the sunset in the this photo could represent the end of this seven month séjour en Bretagne. I am a city boy but I have appreciated the beauty of the paysage breton during my séjour en France.

A Hancock Sunset

In my last post, it was about a sunrise, for this posting it is all about a sunset... a late winter sunset.  I am really found of the late afternoon sunlight as it can lead to interesting shadows and silhouettes. This photo was taken on the last day of winter of 2011. I was out on the Mall when I captured the sun as it set behind the John Hancock Monument.  This shot was taken with my Nikon D50 which recently died after six years and more than 110k shutter actualizations (the camera was designed to work up to 50k).  This photo was shot as a JPEG and as a result, the photo has a few clipped portions in the shadow areas of the photo. Having better control of such clipped areas in post processing is one of the reasons why I now shot in RAW instead of JPEG format. For those who think the photo is still interesting thank you for not noticing.

Une Capitale de l'Amour

Paris the Capitale de l'Amour, mais bien sur... but perhaps Paris isn't the only Capitol de l'Amour out there... Anyways I thought it would be appropriate to post this image today as aujourd'hui is Valentines Day! I was photographing the sun as it set on the Potomac on a fall evening when I captured this image. I used my long telephoto zoom for this shot, framing the couples with the three columns from the Lincoln Memorial. I did crop the image slightly during its post processing treatment. I suppose perhaps this photo could have been better if that one person sitting alone wasn't in the photo but then again there are plenty in the nation's capital who are single ;)

La Grande Capitale

Last October while at the Mall to watch the sun as it set over the Potomac river, I took this photo of the Arlington Memorial Bridge. While there, I couldn't help but to think about my years spent in France. I suppose this photo could remind one of some grande city, not just in France but elsewhere in Europe.

Evening Kick-Off

Late last month I passed the newly remodeled Woodrow Wilson High School in Tenley Town during an evening walk. A football game was about to start. Bien sur, c'était un vendredi soir, the time of the week when High School football is played. At least that is how I remember it being from my days au lycée. I could care less about football but I found the manner in which the sun was hitting the clouds to be beau so I snapped this photo before going on my merry way.
