A Foggy Night in Paris

To kick off this New Year of 2014, here is a photo taken five years ago during an evening walk in Paris on January 1, 2009.

I capture this shot during my stay in Paris last January. I panned this Toyota Prius Paris Taxicab as it was passing the Arc de Triumphe. There happened to be a passenger visible in the back.

The Storm Over Le Chateau

I am back again on this blog after some hiatus. Before leaving France, I stayed with a friend who doesn't live too far from this Chateau, Vaux-le-Vicomte, located outside of Paris. Although those clouds appear threatening, it didn't storm, the clouds were just passing through. This was probably the best shot I got that day as the rest of my time there, the weather was rather dull. 

Sunset on a Grazing Field

I will be soon leaving the rural paysage breton for the city. I suppose the sunset in the this photo could represent the end of this seven month séjour en Bretagne. I am a city boy but I have appreciated the beauty of the paysage breton during my séjour en France.

Through a Keyhole

The Saint Joseph Church is one of the two main churches in Pontivy. It doesn't seem to get a lot of use though because it is always closed and when I look through the church door's keyhole, outside from the organ, it is empty inside. Note, the photo doesn't seem to appear that clear on the blog's page so you need to click on it to make it clearer.

Somewhere under a Rainbow...

It is photos like this one which make want to eventually purchase a larger sensor pocketable camera that I could have on me all the time in order to captue unexpected moments. This photo was taken on one of those days in Pontivy where the weather consistantly changes between rainstorms and sunny skies. Coming from the grocery store, I had to cross the river to get back to my place. The sun was setting on Pontivy while at the same time a rainstorm was passing through the town. Such kind of weather conditons lead to rainbows. As I was coming back from the grocery store, I didn't have my camera with me. My D7000 is a great camera but it isn't pocketable of course! So I ran back to my place to get my camera in order to come back to photograph the rainbow. Luckly, it was still there in the sky, towering over Pontivy.

Cheese Platter Chez Huguette

At my home away from home chez Huguette en Bretagne, Huguette, my adopted French mother will sometimes host dinners at her place on Sunday for friends. A cheese platter is usually presented to guests after the entré and before the dessert. Grappes and/or lectuce with vinaigrette dressing accompany the cheese.

Through the Harvested

It has been a little over a month since I've gone from living in a big city to a small town in the country. The corn had been already harvested from this field when I took this shot.

Une laverie parisienne

During my three years living in Paris, I used to take nightly walks all the time. Mostly on le rive gauche in residential areas of the 13th, 14th, 15th arrondissements. I used to cross le pont de Mirabeau into the 16th too. I guess I liked the tranquillité that these arrondissements had at night time. I must have walked past many laveries on these walks. Even if they were closed, their lights always seemed to remain on as if they were still open. It was on one of these walks two years ago this month that I took the photo of this laverie on rue de l'amiral roussin in the 15th. I lived on rue de l'amiral roussin and used to walk past this laverie every time on my way to the metro (Emile Zola). I never went there for my laundry (I had a machine at my place) but I will never forget passing the laverie on my nightly walks and seeing it empty on the inside with its lights on. In the darkness of the night, it was one of the very few buildings on the block so brightly lit on the inside.
