This year's blooming of the Cherry Blossoms was the first since the opening of the MLK Memorial on the Mall in August of last year. I took this photo on March 19, when the blossoms were at their peak period. They arrived early this year as a result of the rather warm winter we had in DC.
Back in 2010, a good friend of mine suggested that I create a blog dedicated to my photography. I thought it would be a fun project so I went ahead and created this blog. Each post with its photos represent a personal inspiration. I hope my visitors enjoy my work.

A Spring before the Earthquake
Today is the first day of spring, although this photo is from the spring of 2011. I would not be able to capture the same exact photo this spring. The steeples on the central tower of the National Cathedral are now of course surrounded by scaffolds from the damage they suffered during the earthquake last August (see my previous post for reference). It could take several years to complete the repairs and thus have the opportunity to capture such a photo again.

Spring Sunrise in DC-
Spring has arrived once again in Washington, DC. Le vendredi dernier, I went down to the Mall on Friday at dawn to capture early morning shots of the Cherry Blossom trees as they have just recently blossomed. Amid the cold temperatures of a DC spring morning, I witnessed the warm colors of the sun rise next to the Capitol Dome. Taking shots of the Capitol from the Washington Monument with my trusty D50 coupled with my Nikon 55-200mm 4-5.6 VR zoom, a "bread and butter" but versatile zoom, my hands grew cold and dry in the early chilly breezy air. A ce moment je me suis dit "mince, j'aurais du apporter mes gants avec moi!" Heureusement, j'etais plutot satisfait avec mes photos que j'ai pris.
